Students see it as their duty to write it because it is a requirement for getting into a college or university. Even though most people pass the test, some people find it very hard to pass.

1. To get into a college or university
I’m sure you want to go to college and get a degree. This sentence is not for you if you don’t want to be.
The university system, especially in Nigeria, says that a student who wants to go to college must have good grades in his or her five main subjects, including English and math.
If you’re a student of art, you should be able to pass the following papers:
- English Language
- Math
- Government
- Literature
Studies of Christianity/Studies of Islam
For students of science:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
For commercial students:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Commerce
- Economics
- Accounting
The other three depend on your class, except for English language and mathematics.
You can also get into college by taking these subjects. You can’t get into a science department or school at a university by taking art subjects. All of your subjects must match what you want to study in college.

Basically, preparing your papers (Visa) requires academic qualification. If you don’t have any, you will almost certainly not be able to leave the country.

Education documents are needed for jobs both inside and outside of the country.
Good jobs in the country require good education, unless you want to do menial work, in which case you can get a job without education (you can work as a cleaner in the office).

1. Start studying early
This is always the first tip, because once you read, the other tips will make sense. If you don’t study, you might not be able to use the other tips in this post.
Reading ahead of time can help you pass your test in a lot of ways. First, it gives you the chance to read your books again and again. You learn more about that subject than someone who goes through it just once.
It really does work differently for each person. Some people only read something once, while others have to read it twice or even three times to understand it. But the truth is that these two people have different level of understanding.
It’s not a good idea to start studying two weeks before a test. If you do that, you’ll have so many exam topics to cover which you may not be able to cover.
You should start 6 months before your test so that you have enough time to cover a lot of material.
2. Use past WAEC questions and answers as a guide.
So many students didn’t realize how helpful the answers to past questions are. You won’t know how important it is until you go through it yourself.

You already know what WAEC is and what it’s all about.

On the exam booklet, the directions for the test are written. Spend about 3–5 minutes carefully reading through it.
Make sure you do everything the way it says and not how you think it should be done.

Some people might fail WAEC because they didn’t give themselves over to a supernatural being (God).
