Unmasking the Deception

Details of the report, disclosed to journalists in Abuja by the spokesperson of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dr Fabian Benjamin, have shown that Ejikeme failed to provide any explanation for her fraudulent actions.

The report outlines that “In Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s submission, she owned up in the presence of her principal and the Education Secretary that the narration by the JAMB officials was a true and correct description of what transpired.”

Ejikeme, remorselessly confessed to having falsified her results without any assistance, utilising her own mobile phone to commit the fraudulent act. She proceeded to a local cybercafé, Prisca Global Computers, in Uruagu, Nnewi, to print the manipulated results.

Despite the panel’s attempts to understand the motive behind her actions, Ejikeme remained reticent, offering no explanation or remorse for her actions.

Shockwaves Through the Education Community

Educational representatives present during Ejikeme’s confession expressed their astonishment. The Principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary school in Uruagu, Nnewi, and the Education Secretary – Diocese of Nnewi (Anglican Communion) expressed their shock at the audacious actions of Ejikeme, who admitted to deceiving her school, family, and even the State Government with her manipulated UTME results.

The JAMB Accusation and Ejikeme’s Defiance

Earlier, MySchoolGist reported that JAMB had accused Ejikeme of manually inflating her UTME result from a score of 249 to an impressive 362. Having boosted her results in such a way, Ejikeme had been parading herself as the 2023 UTME top scorer, a false claim that had won her a generous scholarship of N3M from Innoson Motors.

Despite pleas from the Board for her to admit the forgery, Ejikeme stubbornly maintained her innocence, insisting that the results she printed came directly from the official JAMB website.

The Aftermath of the Scandal

In response to Ejikeme’s continuous denial, the Board imposed a severe three-year ban on her. Following this punitive measure, the House of Representatives has called for a stay of action, adding yet another layer of complexity to an already unprecedented case of examination fraud. The aftermath of this controversy is sure to reverberate through the educational landscape, reminding all participants of the crucial importance of honesty and integrity in academia.
